  2. Playing Air Warrior Online

  5. Getting Online
  6. --------------
  7. Air Warrior III in its full, large-scale multiplayer online mode can 
  8. be played directly from the web, employing a TCP/IP connection with 
  9. your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  All you have to do is connect
  10. to a web site that offers Air Warrior III.  The program will launch
  11. directly from an Air Warrior III web based launch site.

  13. If you purchased Air Warrior III in 1997, the open online beta test
  14. may be active and you can fly online for free from the open beta 
  15. site at http://www.bigweek.com.

  17. After all the new online features have been tested, Air Warrior III
  18. will be available from the GameStorm online game service at
  19. http://www.gamestorm.com.

  21. To launch Air Warrior III and play online with other players, you MUST
  22. launch the program from one of these launch web pages. DO NOT just run
  23. the executable from the Start Menu or double-click the airwar3D.exe
  24. file to play online.

  26. If You Have Problems Launching From the Web
  27. --------------------------------------------
  28. Air Warrior III launches from the web using a special game launching
  29. program called klnch32.exe.  It is a "helper application" that works
  30. with your browser to launch the game you want to play.
  31.  
  32. In the vast majority of cases, the game installer will correctly
  33. install klaunch32.exe in your Windows folder, and automatically 
  34. configure your browser to use it as a helper application.
  35.  
  36. In some rare cases, however, this automatic installation fails. If
  37. you get an klaunch error message or if you are asked to download a
  38. "ticket" when trying to launch the game, use the instructions
  39. below to either confirm that klnch32.exe is correctly installed, 
  40. or if it is not, configure it manually.
  41.  
  42. If klnch32.exe is correctly configured in your browser, and you 
  43. are still getting an error message on launch, check the readme.txt
  44. and the faq.txt files that came with the game installation for more 
  45. troubleshooting information.

  47. NETSCAPE
  48.  
  49. 1.  Start Netscape. In Netscape, select Preferences from the Options
  50.     menu (General Preferences in Netscape 3.0).
  51. 2.  Select the tab labeled Helper Apps. (Helper in Netscape 3.0)
  52. 3.  Select the button on the Helper Apps screen labeled "Create New
  53.     Type".
  54. 4.  Enter application for the Mime type.
  55. 5.  Enter x-klaunch for the Mime subtype.
  56. 6.  Click OK for the Configure New Mime Type dialog.
  57. 7.  Enter lch for the file extensions.
  58. 8.  Select the radio button beside the action "launch the
  59.     application".
  60. 9.  Select the Browse button on the lower right corner of the 
  61.     helper app screen.
  62. 10. Browse to the Windows folder, locate the file klnch32.exe and
  63.     select it.
  64. 11. Select the OK button on the Browse dialog.
  65. 12. Select OK at the bottom of the Preferences screen.
  66. 13. Select Save Options from the Options menu in Netscape (not
  67.     necessary in Netscape 3.0).

  69. INTERNET EXPLORER
  70. 1.  Start Internet Explorer.
  71. 2.  Select Options from the View menu.
  72. 3.  Select the tab labeled "Programs".
  73. 4.  Select the button on the Programs screen labeled "File Types".
  74. 5.  Select the "New Type" button.
  75. 6.  Type a description, such as "Kesmai Launch Files".
  76. 7.  Type in a (any) file extension, such as "LCH"
  77. 8.  Enter "application/x-klaunch" for the Content Type (MIME).
  78. 9.  Click the New button to create a new "action".
  79. 10. Type "open" for the action name.
  80. 11. Browse to the Windows folder and
  81.     select "KLNCH32.EXE"
  82. 12. Click "OK" to close the New Action dialog.
  83. 13. Click "OK" to close the Add New File Type dialog.
  84. 14. Click "OK" to close the File Types dialog.
  85. 15. Click "OK" to close the Options dialog.
  86. 16. When you click on the Play link/button on the web page, MSIE will
  87.     ask you whether you want to save the file to disk, or open it.  
  88.     Choose open.
